For Registrars

Updated 3 June 2005

On 25 June 2005, Afilias will make some minor adjustments that will bring its ccTLD SRS into full compliance with the RFCs for the Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP), sometimes known as "EPP 1.0".

Please read the EPP 1.0 FAQ. It provides full details and instructions regarding this upgrade. Registrar will need to make adjustments in order to transact with the registry after the upgrade. A new toolkit and new OT&E Acceptance Criteria have been published below for your use. If you are already using EPP in the production environment as of 3 June 2005, you will not need to do so again in order to transact after the 25 June upgrade, although testing in the OT&E environment is recommended.

To use EPP, a registrar must develop a client application that will interface to the system. Your use of an EPP client is entirely optional. If you like, you can manage your domains by using our Web admin tool only.

OT&E: The Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) environment is available for you to test your EPP client. Please contact Afilias Tech Support (techsupport@afilias-grs.net) for access. Afilias requires registrars to demonstrate the correct operation of their client application by passing the OT&E certification process. OT&E is optional for registrars who already connect to an EPP 1.0 system currently operated by Afilias.

The EPP RFCs are:
  • 3730: Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP)
  • 3731: Domain Name Mapping
  • 3732: Host Mapping
  • 3733: Contact Mapping
  • 3734: Transport Over TCP
  • 3735: Guidelines for Extending EPP

Please contact us if you have any questions.
